The route begins in Hammersbach near Grainau and leads hikers through the narrow, thundering gorge with its steel walkways and wooden bridges. After emerging from the gorge, the trail continues through open alpine terrain to the Höllentalanger Hut, an inviting rest stop surrounded by rugged peaks. The return path via the scenic Stangensteig completes the loop, offering quieter forest trails and stunning vistas.

Getting to the Starting Point

• By Car: Drive to the Hammersbach car park near Grainau, signposted from Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Paid parking is available near the trailhead.

• By Public Transport: Regional trains and buses run to Grainau and Hammersbach. From the station, it’s a short walk to the start of the trail.
